Mumbai, April 1, 2026: In a fresh administrative reshuffle, senior IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe has been transferred once again, marking his 24th posting in a 21-year career. Known for his strict and disciplined working style, Mundhe’s frequent transfers have often drawn attention within administrative circles.

A 2005-batch IAS officer, Mundhe has been shifted from his role as Secretary of the Disability Welfare Department. He has now been appointed as Principal Secretary in key departments, including Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation, as well as Revenue and Forest.

Mundhe has built a reputation for enforcing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in governance. During his previous assignments, he cleared pending cases and took action against irregularities, earning recognition for his firm administrative approach.

Although government norms typically allow a tenure of around three years in a post, Mundhe’s assignments have often been shorter, averaging about a year. His uncompromising stance and independence in decision-making are often cited as factors behind his frequent transfers.

With his new responsibilities involving critical sectors like disaster management and rehabilitation, attention will now be on how Mundhe brings his trademark administrative discipline to these important departments.
