Pune: Election Commission to Launch Special Intensive Revision Drive; Officials Brief Stakeholders in Preparatory Meeting
Pune, April 3, 2026: In preparation for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign by the Election Commission of India, a pre-planning meeting was held at the District Collector’s office in Pune. District Collector and District Election Officer Jitendra Dudi provided detailed guidance on the process and its implementation.
Representatives from major political parties, including BJP, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), NCP, and I.S.L.A.M party, were present at the meeting.
Deputy District Election Officer Minal Kalaskar delivered a comprehensive presentation explaining the SIR process. She highlighted that the exercise is a crucial initiative by the Election Commission aimed at thoroughly revising electoral rolls. The primary objective is to remove names of ineligible, deceased, or migrated voters while ensuring the inclusion of eligible new voters.
As part of the process, door-to-door verification will be conducted by designated officials to authenticate voter details. Citizens will also be able to make necessary changes through Form 6 (new registration), Form 7 (deletion of names), and Form 8 (corrections).
Officials also urged existing voters to provide details of their entries in the 2002 electoral rolls, including state, district, assembly constituency, and part number, if available. This information will assist Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in mapping voters efficiently through a dedicated mobile application. Voters can access their 2002 records on the official Election Commission website, while details of BLOs are available on the Pune District Collectorate’s website.
Kalaskar further informed that all political parties have been provided with an Excel sheet containing booth-wise details, including names and contact numbers of BLOs. Parties have been requested to appoint at least one Booth Level Agent (BLA) for each polling station to assist in identifying missing voters and supporting the verification process.
Addressing the gathering, District Collector Jitendra Dudi emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the SIR campaign. He also appealed to political parties to actively participate and raise awareness among citizens.
Participants shared suggestions during the meeting, which were addressed by the officials. The preparatory session is expected to play a key role in the smooth execution of the upcoming SIR drive.
