Pune, April 3, 2026: A shocking incident has emerged during an ongoing police recruitment drive in Daund taluka, where several candidates were found using stimulant substances to boost performance.
The incident came to light at the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Group No. 5 recruitment centre, where officials discovered candidates carrying stimulant pills and powders. Authorities have taken action against three candidates on Thursday, bringing the total number of such cases to nine so far, officials confirmed.
According to recruitment authorities, the seized substances were sent for medical examination and were confirmed to be intoxicants used to enhance physical performance. Preliminary findings suggest that some candidates consumed these substances just before the running test, raising serious health concerns.
Officials warned that such stimulants can have dangerous effects on the brain and body, especially during intense physical activity. Blood samples of the suspected candidates have been sent to a forensic laboratory, and further action will be taken based on the results.
The recruitment process at the SRPF facility in Daund has been underway since March 16 under strict supervision and guidelines issued by senior police authorities. Candidates are clearly instructed at the entry point not to consume any intoxicating or performance-enhancing substances. Despite this, violations have been reported.
Authorities also noted that similar incidents involving seven to eight candidates have been detected over the past two weeks. Medical experts cautioned that the use of such stimulants can lead to loss of physical control and serious health risks during endurance tests.
The administration has reiterated that the recruitment process is being conducted transparently, with adequate facilities such as drinking water, glucose, and basic refreshments provided to candidates. Officials have issued a strict warning that any candidate found using or possessing such substances will face immediate disqualification and legal action.
The incident has raised concerns about candidate safety and the integrity of the recruitment process, prompting authorities to intensify monitoring and enforcement measures.
