Pune, April 3, 2026: Severe rainfall continued to disrupt normal life in Pune for the fourth consecutive day, significantly affecting both road and air traffic. An IndiGo flight en route from Ahmedabad to Pune was diverted to Goa due to poor weather conditions and low visibility.

Flight 6E522, which was scheduled to land at Pune Airport, could not complete its landing as heavy rain and dense cloud cover reduced visibility to unsafe levels. After assessing the situation, the pilot, in coordination with air traffic control, decided to reroute the aircraft to Goa to ensure passenger safety.

The sudden diversion caused confusion among passengers, many of whom were left stranded for hours. Several travelers also missed important engagements in Pune due to the unexpected change in plans.

The intense downpour has had a widespread impact across Pune district. Waterlogging in several parts of the city led to traffic congestion, while vehicles heading toward the airport were caught in long queues. Multiple flights approaching Pune were also seen circling in the air due to the adverse weather.

Weather officials reported that Pune recorded an exceptional 65 mm of rainfall on April 2, marking the highest single-day rainfall for April in over 130 years. The previous record dates back to 1896, when 51.1 mm of rainfall was recorded.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as unseasonal rains persist, raising concerns about further disruptions to daily life and transport services.
