Pune, April 3, 2026: Residents have expressed strong dissatisfaction over the alleged failure of the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) storm water pipeline project on Anandpur Trust Hospital Road, off NIBM road claiming that despite spending crores of rupees, the area continues to face waterlogging and safety concerns.

Locals stated that the stretch between Metro Chemist and a nearby Café, spanning over 300 meters, remained dug up for nearly six months for the installation of a new storm water drainage line. The prolonged construction work caused major inconvenience to residents, commuters, and nearby establishments.

However, following recent heavy rainfall, the area reportedly witnessed waterlogging, raising questions about the effectiveness and quality of the newly laid storm water infrastructure. Residents said the situation highlights serious lapses in planning and execution by the civic body.

In addition to drainage issues, safety concerns have also intensified. The road, situated in a hospital zone, earlier had speed breakers to control vehicular movement. These have now been flattened during the course of the work, resulting in vehicles speeding through the area.

The issue is particularly alarming as the locality is home to several senior citizens and sees frequent movement of patients visiting nearby healthcare facilities. Residents say the combination of waterlogging and increased vehicle speed has disrupted the area’s otherwise peaceful environment and heightened the risk of accidents.

Citizens have urged PMC officials to immediately address the drainage failure, restore speed breakers, and ensure accountability for the apparent gaps in the project’s implementation.
