Pune, April 7, 2026: MLA Bapusaheb Pathare has formally requested the removal of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route between Bombay Sappers and Vishrantwadi, citing severe traffic congestion affecting daily commuters. The appeal was submitted during a meeting with Mahesh Avhad, Chairman and Managing Director of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), where an in-depth discussion on the matter took place.

Pathare highlighted that the existing BRT corridor has significantly increased traffic jams, causing daily inconvenience for citizens. He emphasized the urgent need to dismantle the route to ensure smoother and more efficient traffic flow, particularly in the context of rising vehicle numbers in the city.

“The growing number of vehicles in Pune has strained the current traffic system. To provide relief to citizens, practical measures must be taken immediately. Addressing the congestion caused by the BRT route is critical, and alternative solutions should also be explored to improve traffic management,” Pathare stated.
