A shocking theft incident in Pune district’s Pabal area has triggered concern among travellers after a thief smashed a car window in broad daylight and fled with ₹1 lakh cash. The entire act, which took place outside a hotel, was captured on CCTV.
What Happened In Pabal
According to information, the incident occurred when a traveller had stopped at a roadside hotel in Pabal, located in Shirur taluka, for lunch. He parked his car in the hotel’s parking area and went inside, leaving cash inside the vehicle.
Taking advantage of the situation, a thief approached the parked car after ensuring no one was around. Within moments, he broke the window, reached inside, and stole ₹1 lakh in cash before fleeing the spot.
Caught On CCTV Within Minutes
The entire incident unfolded in just a few minutes and was recorded on CCTV cameras installed at the hotel premises. The footage clearly shows the accused moving towards the car, breaking the glass, and quickly escaping after taking the money.
When the vehicle owner returned after lunch, he found the car window shattered. On checking inside, he realised the cash had been stolen.
Police Action Underway
Following the incident, the victim immediately approached the local police station and filed a complaint. Police have seized the CCTV footage and launched an investigation to trace the accused.
Teams have been deployed to identify and track down the suspect based on the visuals captured.
