Pimpri Chinchwad: Property Tax Incentives Announced for Eco-Friendly Buildings and Green Infrastructure
Pune, April 14, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has introduced a new incentive scheme offering rebates on general property tax for buildings that adopt environmentally sustainable practices, aiming to promote greener urban living in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Under the initiative, the civic body will extend tax benefits to residential and commercial properties that effectively implement waste management systems, sewage treatment, and zero-waste practices. Officials said the move is intended to encourage citizens to adopt eco-friendly infrastructure while also reducing environmental pressure on the city.
As per the announced structure, properties with on-site composting systems will receive a 5% tax rebate. Buildings equipped with sewage treatment plants (STPs) will be eligible for a 3% concession, while those having both composting and STP facilities will get higher benefits. A 10% rebate will be granted to buildings that successfully implement both STP systems and a zero-waste model. Properties following only a zero-waste approach will qualify for an 8% discount.
Civic officials stated that the scheme is expected to motivate housing societies and commercial complexes to invest in sustainable waste processing and water recycling infrastructure, ultimately improving citywide sanitation and resource management.
Sachin Pawar said the objective of the policy is to reward environmentally responsible buildings and strengthen decentralised waste management systems across the city.
PCMC Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi noted that the initiative aligns with the city’s long-term vision of becoming cleaner, greener, and more sustainable. He added that encouraging residents to adopt green infrastructure will play a key role in advancing Pimpri-Chinchwad’s development as an eco-friendly urban centre.
The civic body has urged citizens and housing societies to take advantage of the scheme by installing the required systems and actively participating in environmental conservation efforts.
