Woman alleges years of exploitation under pretext of solving marital issues and offering investment returns

A shocking case has emerged from Pune’s Swargate area, where a 42-year-old woman was allegedly sexually exploited and cheated of over ₹50 lakh by a self-proclaimed godman.

According to police, the woman was facing marital issues and living separately from her husband when she came in contact with the accused, Audumbar Manohar Gade, around five years ago through an acquaintance. He introduced himself as a “Dev-Rishi” and claimed to possess divine powers.

Allegations Of Sexual Assault At Multiple Locations
Police said the accused gained the woman’s trust by promising to resolve her personal problems. He allegedly called her to a lodge in the Swargate area, where he raped her. He later took her to other locations, including Mangaon and nearby areas, where he allegedly continued to sexually assault her.

The complaint states that the exploitation continued over several years.

₹50 Lakh Fraud Under False Promises
Investigators revealed that the accused also lured the woman with promises of securing a job and generating high returns through investments in construction-related ventures.

Under these pretexts, he allegedly took cash and jewellery from her amounting to ₹50.55 lakh. The offences reportedly took place between May 2021 and March 2026.

Case Registered, Accused On The Run
Based on the woman’s complaint, Swargate Police have registered a case under charges of rape and cheating. The accused, a resident of Taratgaon in Pandharpur, is currently absconding.

Police officials said efforts are underway to trace and arrest him. Authorities are also probing whether he has targeted other women using similar methods.

Police Urge Public To Stay Alert
Officials have appealed to citizens to remain cautious and not fall prey to individuals claiming supernatural powers or offering unrealistic solutions to personal and financial problems.

The case has sparked concern in the city, once again highlighting the risks posed by fraudulent godmen exploiting vulnerable individuals.
