Pimpri-Chinchwad authorities have taken action against an autorickshaw driver after a viral video showed a young boy driving his vehicle on a busy road near Phoenix Mall of the Millennium in Wakad.

The incident triggered strong reactions on social media, with many users expressing concern over public safety. The video shows a child, believed to be around 10 years old, steering an autorickshaw through traffic in broad daylight. An adult is seen sitting behind him but does not intervene, which drew sharp criticism online, with viewers calling the act dangerous and irresponsible.

After the clip gained widespread attention, Wakad Police traced the driver and registered a case against him. As part of an awareness effort, police also recorded a video statement from the driver.

In his statement, the driver admitted that he allowed the child to operate the vehicle and acknowledged it was a serious mistake. He urged the public to follow traffic rules and not allow minors to drive under any circumstances.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Gaikwad stated that strict action will be taken in such cases. He reiterated that there is zero tolerance for underage driving and violations involving unlicensed individuals, and appealed to citizens to report such incidents immediately.

The action was carried out by Wakad Police under the supervision of senior officials.

The incident has once again highlighted the risks of underage driving in high-traffic areas like Wakad, with experts and residents warning that such negligence can lead to serious accidents and put lives at risk.
