Pimpri, April 30, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation carried out a major demolition drive against illegal constructions under its ‘D’ Ward Office on Thursday. A total of 43 unauthorised tin shed structures were removed, clearing encroachments spread across 63,184 square feet.

The action was undertaken in Ward No. 26, covering 27 structures between Jagtap Dairy and Kasapte Vasti, and in Ward No. 25, where 16 structures between Wakad Chowk and Bhujbal Chowk were demolished. The operation began at 10 am and was conducted following prior notices issued to the occupants of the illegal structures.

The drive was carried out under the orders of Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi and under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor. It was led by D Ward Officer Ashwini Gaikwad, with the participation of several senior officials from the encroachment and building departments.

A large enforcement team was deployed for the operation, including around 150 civic officials and staff, 24 police officers, 90 police personnel, and 120 जवान from the Maharashtra Security Force. Additionally, 60 labourers were engaged for the demolition work. Heavy machinery, including two tractor trolleys and 16 JCB machines, was used to remove the encroachments. A fire brigade vehicle and two ambulances were also stationed at the site as a precautionary measure.

Civic officials stated that the primary objective of the drive is to curb the rising number of illegal constructions in the city and to ensure safe and planned urban development. The administration has made it clear that unauthorised constructions will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against violators.

“Controlling illegal constructions and ensuring safe, planned urban infrastructure is a top priority for the corporation. No relaxation will be given to unauthorised structures. Citizens must follow rules while carrying out construction, failing which strict action will be taken. The ongoing drive under the D Ward Office will continue in the coming days,” said Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi.
