Census 2027 Process Begins In Pune; Citizens Urged To Complete Self-Enumeration By May 15
Pune, May 1, 2026: The process for Census 2027 officially commenced on Thursday, with Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar completing his self-enumeration online on the opening day.
Appealing to citizens to actively participate, the commissioner stressed the importance of providing accurate information, stating that the census plays a crucial role in national planning and public welfare.

He informed that the first phase, self-enumeration, will be conducted from May 1 to May 15, 2026. During this period, residents can submit their household details online through the official census portal.
The second phase will take place from May 16 to June 14, 2026, during which enumerators will visit households to collect data directly. Citizens have been requested to cooperate with officials during these visits.
The central government has made an online platform available for the process, where residents are required to carefully fill in accurate family-related information and verify details before final submission.
Officials including Pune City Tehsildar Smita Mane and Assistant Census Officer of the Pune Cantonment Board Shakeel Mujawar were present on the occasion.
