The BCCI has reportedly tightened IPL protocols after allegations surfaced that a player’s girlfriend passed sensitive team information to outsiders, raising concerns over anti-corruption measures and tournament integrity.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly introduced stricter movement and accommodation rules for IPL players after concerns emerged over confidential team information allegedly being shared with outsiders.

According to reports, one IPL player’s girlfriend was accused of passing internal team details to external individuals, triggering concern among franchise owners and BCCI officials. The matter reportedly came to light after a team owner informed the board about the alleged leak and sought immediate intervention.

Following the incident, the BCCI intensified its monitoring of players, team officials and unauthorised individuals moving around team hotels and restricted areas during the tournament.

The board has now reportedly enforced stricter rules requiring players to stay together in designated hotels and limiting unnecessary movement between cities during the IPL season.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia acknowledged that the board had noticed “anomalies and irregularities” involving certain franchises, players and unauthorised persons interacting with team members in restricted areas.

He stated that outsiders were allegedly entering hotels and even visiting players’ or officials’ rooms, which the board considers a serious violation of anti-corruption protocols.

Saikia also noted that some franchise owners and officials were seen interacting with players in non-designated areas where such meetings are not permitted under league guidelines.

The BCCI has warned that any future violations will invite strict disciplinary action.

The development has once again sparked discussions around integrity, confidentiality and anti-corruption safeguards in the IPL, especially given the high commercial value and intense betting concerns linked to the tournament.

Reports suggested that internal team information leaking outside could potentially be misused for betting-related activities, match-fixing attempts or strategic manipulation, prompting the board to act swiftly.

The BCCI is expected to continue tightening operational protocols around team security, hotel access and authorised personnel for the remainder of the tournament.
