Residents Shocked After Three Snakes Found Hiding in Air Conditioner
A family panicked in Gujarat’s Valsad district after three non-venomous snakes were found inside an air conditioner unit at their residence in the Railway Faliya area of Pardi town. They were later safely rescued by an animal rescue team.
The incident came to light when the family switched on the AC and noticed unusual movement near the unit. The animal rescuers identified the snakes as Common Bronzeback Tree Snakes, a non-venomous species commonly found in trees and green surroundings.
The officials said the snakes are suspected to have entered the air-conditioner through the water drainage outlet pipe connected to the outdoor unit. No injuries were reported in the Gujarat incident.
Similar cases have been reported from different parts of the country in recent months. In the first week of March this year, five snakes of the same species were discovered inside an AC unit in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Earlier incidents involving Common Bronzeback Tree Snakes entering air conditioners were also reported from parts of Odisha, West Bengal and other regions.
However, the experts and wildlife rescuers have advised residents to regularly inspect AC outlet pipes and ensure proper mesh coverings are installed to prevent reptiles and other animals from entering indoor units.
