Pune: Three Arrested Within 12 Hours For Attempt To Murder Auto-Rickshaw DriverĀ

Pune, May 23, 2026: The Ambegaon Police Station arrested three accused within 12 hours in connection with an attempt to murder case reported in the Ambegaon area of Pune.
According to police officials, the incident took place on May 18, 2026, around 10 am, when the complainant was travelling in his auto-rickshaw from Katraj Chowk towards Navale Bridge. During the journey, the accused identified as Ganesh Gore, Ganesh Dharpale and Bapu Bhosale allegedly followed the complainantās rickshaw and intercepted him near the Jijamata Underground Passage at Dattanagar, Ambegaon.
Police said the accused attacked the complainant with an iron weapon over an old dispute and issues related to passenger transport rivalry. The victim sustained serious injuries in the assault, while the accused fled the spot after allegedly attempting to kill him.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Arms Act, Criminal Law Amendment Act and Maharashtra Police Act.
During the investigation, police personnel received confidential information that the accused were hiding in the Rajgad-Torna fort region near Vazheghar village in Velha taluka. Acting on the instructions of senior officers, a police team led by Police Sub-Inspector Mohan Kalamkar, along with the investigation squad, launched a search operation in the forest area.
The accused were eventually traced and detained from the jungle area near Rajgad Fort and Torna Fort.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ganesh Kondiba Gore (27), resident of Gokul Nagar, Katraj, Ganesh Haribhau Dharpale (36), auto-rickshaw driver and resident of Ambegaon Pathar, and Bapuso Balasaheb Bhosale (35), resident of Old Dugad Chawl, Katraj
Police have formally arrested all three accused, and further investigation is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Yuvraj Shinde.
