PCMC Commissioner Reviews Ashadhi Wari Palkhi RoutesÂ
Pimpri Chinchwad, May 23, 2026: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi conducted an inspection of the Ashadhi Wari Palkhi procession routes and halt locations across the city and directed all civic departments to work in coordination to ensure proper facilities and safety arrangements for Warkaris during the annual pilgrimage.
The commissioner reviewed preparations for the arrival of the palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, which are welcomed every year with great enthusiasm in the municipal limits.
During the inspection, Dr. Suryawanshi visited key locations including Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi, where the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi is welcomed, and Akurdi, which serves as a halt point for the procession. He also inspected the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Urdu Secondary School premises where dindis stay overnight during the pilgrimage.

The commissioner further reviewed arrangements at Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Kharalwadi, Nashik Phata Road, Dapodi and other designated halt locations along the palkhi route. In Moshi’s Magazine Chowk, where the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi is welcomed, he inspected the proposed reception facilities and infrastructure preparations.
Senior civic officials, police officers and representatives from Maha Metro were present during the inspection tour.
Dr. Suryawanshi instructed officials to ensure that all arrangements for Warkaris are carried out in a planned and coordinated manner. He emphasised the importance of uninterrupted water supply, clean drinking water, medical services, mobile clinics, ambulances and adequate mobile toilet facilities at all halt locations and along the procession routes.
Considering that the palkhi procession takes place during the monsoon season, the commissioner directed the disaster management department to remain fully prepared. He also instructed officials to inspect hoardings across the city and take immediate action against dangerous or illegal structures.

The commissioner further ordered civic teams to repair potholes, clean drainage lines before the monsoon, prevent waterlogging along the palkhi routes and install barricades near ongoing construction sites for safety purposes.
To help Warkaris navigate easily, authorities have also been directed to install proper directional signboards and appoint coordinators at important points along the route. Separate control rooms will also be set up at major halt locations.
Dr. Suryawanshi additionally stressed the need for regular sanitation, disinfectant spraying and removal of debris, construction material and obstructions from procession routes. He also instructed officials to ensure that CCTV cameras at palkhi routes, reception areas and halt locations remain fully functional throughout the event.
