CBSE Rechecking Row Deepens As More Students Claim Answer Sheets Are Not Theirs
After a Class 12 student alleged that his Physics answer sheet did not match his handwriting, more CBSE students have now come forward with similar claims, raising serious questions over the board’s evaluation process.
A major controversy has erupted around the CBSE Class 12 revaluation process after multiple students claimed that the answer sheets uploaded under their roll numbers did not belong to them.
The issue first gained attention after a student named Vedant shared a post on social media alleging that the Physics answer sheet provided to him after rechecking did not match his handwriting.
Vedant had applied for photocopies of his answer sheet after scoring lower than expected marks in Physics. After receiving the scanned copy, he compared it with his English and Computer Science answer sheets as well as his personal handwritten notes.
He then claimed, “This answer sheet is not mine. My writing style, letters, syntax, spacing between two letters, nothing matches. This is not a minor difference, the handwriting is completely different.”
The controversy quickly spread online, with several students and parents expressing concern over the accuracy of CBSE’s evaluation process.
Soon after Vedant’s allegation went viral, another student named Sanjana also made a similar claim regarding her Chemistry answer sheet.
Sanjana said she had applied for CBSE revaluation after scoring only 11 marks out of 70 in the Chemistry theory exam despite expecting significantly higher marks.
In her social media post, she wrote, “I had applied for CBSE revaluation. However, the first page of the Chemistry answer sheet I received is mine, but the rest of the answer sheet does not match my handwriting or the answers I wrote at all. For reference, I have attached a copy of my English answer sheet. My real handwriting is clearly visible in it.”
She further added, “I had given my 12th exam. I was shocked to see that I got only 11 marks out of 70 in the written exam of Chemistry. I expected much higher marks than this. Initially I thought that the scanned copy might be blurry, but it does not match my original answer sheet at all. It looks like someone else’s handwriting. There is no comparison between the two handwritings.”
Another student has also reportedly raised a similar complaint, claiming that the Physics answer sheet uploaded under his details did not belong to him.
The controversy has intensified criticism of CBSE’s newly introduced Onscreen Marking System (OSM). After the Class 12 board results were declared, many students and parents had alleged that the digital evaluation process led to unusually low marks in several subjects.
Some students claimed that lengthy answers, diagrams and stepwise solutions may not have been assessed properly under the new system.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has reportedly said that after receiving several complaints, technical experts from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur will study the issue and submit a report to help CBSE implement an error-free process.
CBSE has also stated that student complaints are being treated on priority.
