Pune Congress Demands Action Against Defamatory Banners Targeting Satej Patil
Pune, May 27, 2026: The Pune City Congress has urged the police administration to take strict action against unidentified individuals who allegedly installed defamatory banners targeting former Maharashtra Minister of State for Home and senior Congress leader Satej Patil, popularly known as Bunty Patil, across various parts of the city.
According to a statement issued by the party, objectionable banners carrying defamatory content against Patil were put up at several prominent junctions in Pune over the past two to three days. Congress leaders alleged that the act was a deliberate attempt to malign both the senior leader and the Congress party, which they said has played a significant role in India’s freedom movement. The party further claimed that the incident was aimed at disturbing peace and law and order in the city.

A delegation of Pune City Congress leaders met Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil and submitted a written memorandum demanding immediate action against those responsible.
The delegation pointed out that all locations where the banners were installed fall under CCTV surveillance maintained by Pune Police. They demanded that the police examine the footage, identify the culprits, and register cases against them for defamation, misuse of the name of a national political party, defacing the city, and attempting to create a riot-like atmosphere in Pune.
The Congress delegation included Pune East City President Prashant Jagtap, Pune West City President Deepti Chaudhari, senior leader and former MLA Mohan Joshi, senior leader Gopal Tiwari, group leader Chandu Kadam, corporator Sunil Shinde, and Pradesh General Secretary Bhausaheb Ajbe.
