An argument over payment for a crate of mangoes allegedly turned violent in Pune after a woman accused her husband, an IT engineer, of assaulting and abusing her. Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation.
A domestic dispute over a crate of mangoes worth ₹850 has led to a police case in Pune after a woman accused her husband of physically assaulting and verbally abusing her during an argument at their home.
According to police, the incident took place around 10:30 am on Sunday, May 24, at the couple’s residence in Pune. The woman had reportedly purchased a crate of mangoes from a vendor outside their housing society and later sent the QR code payment request to her husband, asking him to complete the payment.
Police said the husband, who works as an IT engineer, allegedly became angry after receiving the request and refused to pay for the mangoes. The disagreement soon escalated into a heated argument between the couple.
As the quarrel intensified, the woman allegedly started recording the argument on her mobile phone. According to the complaint, the husband became furious after noticing the recording, snatched the phone from her hand and threw it at her.
The woman suffered an injury near her eyebrow during the altercation. She also alleged that her husband verbally abused and threatened her before leaving the house.
Following the incident, the woman approached the police station and was later sent for medical examination and treatment.
Based on her complaint, Pune Police registered an FIR against the husband under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
Police officials said the investigation is currently underway and further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
The incident has drawn attention on social media after details of the unusual dispute surfaced online, with many reacting to how a minor disagreement over a payment reportedly escalated into a police case and allegations of domestic violence.
