Pune, 29th May 2026: A dispute over pet cats allegedly led to a violent assault on an elderly woman in Tathawade area of Pune earlier this week. Police have registered a case against three members of a family in connection with the incident.

The 60-year-old woman, who lives alone in Panchshilnagar, sustained injuries on her forehead during the attack that took place on Tuesday night. According to her complaint filed at Wakad police station, her neighbour’s five pet cats had been regularly entering her house and jumping on the tin roof, causing disturbance.

The woman claimed she had repeatedly complained to the neighbours about the issue, but no action was taken.

Police said the incident began when the cats entered the woman’s house while she was having dinner. After she tried to drive them away, her neighbour allegedly came to her house and started arguing with her.

During the argument, the neighbour’s daughter allegedly pulled the elderly woman by her hair, while the mother and daughter assaulted her with kicks and punches. Police further said the neighbour’s son later hit the woman on the forehead with a brick picked up from the roadside.

Hearing her cries for help, nearby residents rushed to the spot, following which the accused fled from the area.

The injured woman’s married daughter later took her to a hospital, where she received four stitches on her forehead.

Wakad police have registered a case against the three accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to causing hurt and grievous injury. Further investigation is underway.
