Pune, June 22, 2026: In a major step towards enhancing public safety and security, the entire Wanowrie-Ramtekdi SRPF Forest corridor has been brought under comprehensive CCTV surveillance, enabling round-the-clock monitoring along the stretch from the SRPF Gate at Ramtekdi to the Nandanvan SRPF Forest Main Gate.
The surveillance project was implemented under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and executed by ACP Vivek Pawar as part of Pune Police’s technology-driven policing initiatives aimed at strengthening law enforcement and public security.

ACP Vivek Pawar told Pune Pulse that
the newly installed CCTV network is expected to significantly improve safety in the area by facilitating continuous monitoring, deterring criminal activities, tracking suspicious movements, enhancing emergency response capabilities, supporting traffic management, and assisting police investigations.
There are 12 fix cameras, 1 PTZ, 4 ECB, 6 Public announcement systems and 10 flood lights installed in the area, he added.
The Wanowrie-Ramtekdi SRPF Forest corridor is considered a strategically important route with substantial daily movement of residents and vehicles. For several years, local citizens had been demanding enhanced security measures along the stretch, making the CCTV installation a widely welcomed development.
Residents and citizen groups have lauded Pune Police for successfully completing the project, describing it as a major milestone in improving surveillance and ensuring public safety in the locality.
Local residents described the project as a long-awaited security enhancement and a model of effective policing, noting that the extensive CCTV coverage will contribute to safer neighbourhoods and provide greater peace of mind for people travelling through the Wanowrie-Ramtekdi SRPF Forest corridor.
