Pune: Bhimrao Kamble Found Guilty In Nasrapur Child Rape And Murder Case; Court To Decide Punishment On June 29
Pune, June 25, 2026: The Pune District and Sessions Court has convicted Bhimrao Kamble in the Nasrapur child rape and murder case, a crime that triggered widespread outrage across Maharashtra. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the court held that the prosecution had successfully proved all charges against the accused.
Kamble was charged with the sexual assault and murder of a minor girl on May 1, 2026. After examining the evidence and arguments presented during the trial, the court found him guilty of the offences.
While pronouncing the verdict, the court observed that the convicted offences carry provisions for the death penalty in two counts and life imprisonment in two others under the law. The court will hear arguments on sentencing before announcing the quantum of punishment on June 29.
The prosecution has sought the maximum punishment, arguing that the crime was particularly heinous and warrants the strictest action under the law.
During the pronouncement of the verdict, the judge reportedly asked the accused to reflect on the crime and state what punishment he believed he deserved. However, Kamble did not respond to the court’s question.
The prosecution strongly pressed for the death penalty, arguing that the offence was exceptionally brutal and that the accused had displayed no remorse for his actions. Government prosecutors urged the court to award the maximum punishment permitted under law, citing the gravity of the crime.
In his defence, the accused maintained that the incident was accidental and claimed that the girl had fallen while he was taking her to buy food. However, after examining the evidence, witness testimonies and forensic findings presented during the trial, the court rejected the defence’s version and found him guilty on all charges.
The matter will now proceed to the sentencing stage, with the court scheduled to hear arguments on the quantum of punishment before delivering its final order on June 29.
