Balwadkar Family Continues 32-Year Tradition of Free Pandharpur Wari for 950 Devotees
Pune: Continuing a three-decade-long tradition of serving the Warkari community, Balewadi-based leaders organised a free pilgrimage to Pandharpur on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi. The initiative, led by Vitthal Rukmini Mandir Trust President Sanjay Balwadkar, Pune Municipal Corporation Corporator Amol Balwadkar, and Rahul Balwadkar, marked the 32nd consecutive year of the service.
A total of 950 devotees participated in the pilgrimage to seek the blessings of Lord Vitthal. The devotees departed for Pandharpur in 19 buses, chanting devotional hymns and the name of Lord Vitthal, creating a spiritually vibrant atmosphere at the departure point.
Speaking on the occasion, Corporator Amol Balwadkar said that serving the Warkari community through this annual pilgrimage has been a privilege for the Balwadkar family for the past 32 years. He added that receiving the blessings of the Warkaris and contributing to the spiritual tradition of the Warkari sect has been a matter of great satisfaction for the family.
Among those present were Sanjay Balwadkar, Rahul Balwadkar, Dnyaneshwar Tapkir, Sunil Chandere, Prakash Balwadkar, Anil Balwadkar, Vaishali Kamajdar, Kalyani Tokekar, members of the women’s Bhajani Mandal, and a large number of devotees.
