Three Electric Scooters Catch Fire While Charging In Pimpri Building; Fire Brigade Rescues Two Women
Pimpri, July 20, 2026: Three electric two-wheelers caught fire while being charged in the parking area of a residential building in Valhekarwadi’s Dagadoba Chowk area on Monday morning, prompting a swift rescue operation by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Fire Department.
According to preliminary information, the fire broke out while the electric scooters were charging and rapidly intensified. All three electric two-wheelers were completely gutted in the blaze. The flames soon spread to a nearby two-storey residential building, trapping two women on the first and second floors.
Firefighters launched an immediate rescue operation and safely evacuated both women from the building. Thanks to the prompt response and coordinated efforts of the fire department, no casualties were reported.
Upon receiving the emergency call, the PCMC Fire Department rushed three fire tenders to the spot and began firefighting operations on a war footing. Fire personnel successfully contained the blaze before it could spread further to adjacent structures, minimising damage and preventing a major disaster.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Fire Officer Gautam Ingawale. Lead Firemen Vinayak Nale and Shahaji Kopnar, along with firefighters Prahlad Korde, Pankaj Rasal, Amol Kurhade, Irfan Beldar, Eknath Dhage, Sakharam Chimte, Bhushan Yewale, Tushar Birhade, Sohan Tukdev, Prakash Gavhane, Tejaswi Patil, Eknath Budhwant, Sagar Lawande, Sagar Gurav, Rahul Dhumal, Mahesh Garad, Balaji Sanap and other personnel played a key role in extinguishing the fire and carrying out the rescue operation.
Following the incident, the fire department urged residents to exercise caution while charging electric vehicles inside residential buildings and to follow all recommended safety measures to prevent such accidents.
The PCMC Fire Department also appealed to citizens to remain calm during emergencies and immediately dial 101 to report fire-related incidents. Their timely intervention in this case helped save two lives and prevented the fire from escalating further.
