NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar To Visit Pune On July 23–24; Events On Women’s Safety, AI, Career Guidance And Gender-Sensitive Journalism
Pune, July 22, 2026: National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar will be on a two-day visit to Pune on July 23 and 24, 2026, to participate in a series of programmes focusing on women’s safety, digital empowerment, career guidance, family counselling and gender-sensitive journalism.
On July 23, an awareness programme on stalking and cyberstalking will be held at YASHADA on Baner Road in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Commission for Women. The session will educate participants about legal protections available to women, the process of filing complaints, and coordination among various enforcement agencies to address crimes against women.
Later in the day, under the NCW’s SHEServes initiative, a career guidance programme will be organised at Annabhau Sathe Hall in Yerawada. Experts will guide young women on career opportunities in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, covering eligibility criteria, the selection process and preparation strategies.
In the evening, Rahatkar will inaugurate a Pre-Marital Counselling Centre at Gyan Prabodhini, where guidance will be offered on pre-marital counselling, communication skills and building healthy family relationships.
On July 24, Vishwakarma University will host a training programme under the NCW’s Yashoda AI initiative for women associated with self-help groups. The programme will focus on artificial intelligence (AI), digital literacy, cyber security, online financial safety, and the responsible use of emerging technologies, including protection against deepfakes.
The visit will conclude with an interactive session at the Ranade Institute of Journalism, where journalism students will participate in discussions on gender justice and gender-sensitive journalism. The session will highlight responsible reporting, ethical coverage of issues concerning women, and the media’s role in promoting social responsibility.
The National Commission for Women said the programmes aim to strengthen awareness, empower women through knowledge and technology, and encourage responsible institutional and media practices.
