Swapnashilp society in Kothrud sends notice to PMC: asks to repaint wall

Pune Municipal Corporation recently painted the boundary wall of the society in Kothrud without seeking society’s prior permission. 

The Pune Municipal Corporation has agreed to repaint the boundary wall of Swapnashilp society in Kothrud after thesociety served a notice to the former for painting the compound wall with G20-related advertisements. The society had asked the corporation to pay the charges or repaint the wall.  

The letter issued by the Swapnashilp society states – “The west side of our society, City Pride Kothrud has a 400-feet long and 7 feet high wall. The wall has been painted by Pune Municipal Corporation‘s Karvenagar Zonal Office without taking our permission. Every time they paint it and send us a message regarding it.”

The housing society is demanding charges to be paid to it as per the advertisement policy 2003 or have the wall repainted.  

Replying to the letter, PMC said, “As per the guidelines received by Central Government and Maharashtra Government, Pune Municipal Corporation has done a wall painting on the boundary of the society adjacent to the Regional Office to create public awareness about G20 summit meetings. Pune Municipal Corporation does not intend to earn any kind of income in this.”

The letter stated that the wall will be repainted soon. 

Prashant Kadam, secretary of Swapnashilp Society, “Four days back the compound wall was painted with G-20 paintings. We have requested PMC to repaint it. PMC has approved it and they will repaint it after the G-20 summit meetings get over.”
