Pune : Case filed against husband for forcing wife to perform 150 sit-ups

Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police have registered a case against five individuals for allegedly harassing and forcing a woman to do 150 sit ups, said police.

According to Dehu Road police, the victim was assaulted by her husband and in-laws from December 2021 over petty issues. The woman was subjected to physical and mental abuse, including being beaten up by using a belt. Her husband and in-laws allegedly threatened her into silence, and even made her do 150 sit-ups.

The victim subsequently filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws, accusing them of causing her physical and mental harm and attempting to beat her to death. The police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 307 (attempt to murder), 498 (a) (cruelty by husband and in-laws), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention).

The accused are currently at large, and the police are actively searching for them. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
