Pune : Alert railway gateman saves life of elderly woman committing suicide near Uruli Kanchan
Alertness of a railway employee and local residents saved the life of a senior citizen who was trying to end her life on a railway track near Uruli Kanchan area.
A 62-year-old woman named Deepali Rajkumar Singh was sitting on a railway track at midnight and was spotted by the gateman who informed Sameer Ghavate and Supriya Ghavate, who lived nearby. Together, they rushed to the woman and helped her walk safely as she was unable to walk due to her illness, informed local police station officials.Â
As per Loni Kalbhor police, Deepali Singh and her husband live in Kanchan Griha Society in Koregaon Mul, Taluka Haveli, District Pune. They have two sons, one who works in Bengaluru while the other works at a military hospital. Deepali has been suffering from an illness for several months, and her husband’s argument drove her to attempt suicide on the railway tracks.
Upon receiving information about the incident, sub-inspector Kiran Dhaygude of the Loni Kalbhor police station was informed. Shortly thereafter, Deepali Singh’s husband and the police arrived at the spot. The police convinced Deepali to seek treatment at a hospital.
