Woman booked on charge of running over society dog in Wakad

Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Monday registered a case against a woman on the charge of running over a dog of the housing society with her car near the main gate of the Pristine Grandeur Society in Wakad.

The incident happened on 28 May at around 1:19 pm. As per the complaint filed by a resident of Pristine Grandeur Society, their housing society has kept ‘Sheru’ dog for the safety and security purpose.

Police said, the complainant alleged that on 28 May, the accused woman who is also a resident of the same housing society was driving her car at a high speed. While driving she ran over a dog who was resting near the main gate.

When the security guard of the housing society was shouting to slow down the vehicle but by ignoring the security guard she rammed the dog.  According to police, the woman did not take the animal to the veterinary hospital. The dog later succumbed to its injuries.

A case regarding the same has been registered at Wakad police station under various sections of prevention of animal cruelty act.

Officials from the Wakad police station said, as per the complaint filed by the complainant, we have registered a case against the accused and further investigation in this case is going on.
