Pune: A tragic incident unfolded this morning on the Pune-Solapur highway as a high-speed fuel tanker collided with a two-wheeler rider, resulting in the death of a woman and causing severe injuries to her daughter. The accident caused significant traffic disruptions along the Pune-Solapur highway for a considerable time.
The deceased has been identified as Yogita Rajkumar Gavane, a 35-year-old resident of Hole Complex, Uruli Kanchan, Pune-Solapur Road.
According to the police, Surekha Rajkumar Gavane, a 16-year-old schoolgirl, sustained critical injuries in the collision and is currently undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital.
As per information, Yogita Gavane had set out for work around 8:00 am on a two-wheeler along with her daughter on Wednesday morning. While travelling on the Pune-Solapur highway near Kunjirwadi, the two-wheeler was struck by a speeding fuel tanker. The impact of the collision inflicted severe injuries on Yogita and her daughter Surekha. Immediate medical assistance was provided, but tragically, Yogita succumbed to her injuries before receiving treatment.
As a result of the accident, traffic flow on the Pune-Solapur highway was disrupted, necessitating police intervention to restore normalcy and facilitate movement towards Pune.
