Pune, June 28 : In order to facilitate the construction of the Main Bridge (Vehicular Overpass) Girder for the Chandni Chowk Project on the Pune-Satara National Highway, it has been decided to regulate traffic on the service road from July 4 to July 15, 2023.

The traffic service on the main road will be regulated from 12:30 am to 3:30 am for three hours during this period. The Collector, Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, has urged citizens to utilize alternative service roads during this time.

A meeting was conducted via television system, chaired by Collector Dr. Deshmukh, to discuss traffic diversion in relation to the bridge construction at Chandni Chowk. The meeting was attended by Ankit Goyal, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural; Vijay Kumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pune City Traffic Branch; Sanjay Kadam, Project Director, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI); Vitthal Kubde, Assistant Commissioner Traffic, Pimpri Chinchwad; and other officials.

Under NHAI’s Bharatmala Project, an integrated structure bridge is being constructed at the Chandni Chowk junction in Pune city. The project is in its final stage with 95% of the work completed. The construction of the new NDA-Pashan Main Bridge (Vehicular Overpass) has reached the substructure level, and the superstructure work is currently underway. As a result, the decision to implement traffic changes has been made. During the designated period, only the traffic of multi-axle vehicles will be blocked for three hours. These vehicles will be either stopped at appropriate locations or directed to alternate routes.

Light vehicles, buses, and trucks will utilize the service road on both sides after the closure of the main carriageway during this period. For those traveling from Mumbai to Satara/Kothrud, the newly constructed service road and Ramp-6 will be used. Similarly, to reach Mumbai and Mulshi via Satara and Kothrud (Pune city), the newly constructed service road and Ramp-8 should be utilized from the Veda Bhavan side. Other modes of transportation will remain unaffected. Project Director Kadam assured that there will be no complete traffic blockage due to these arrangements.
