PCMC appeals to report about non-functional streetlights to Sarathi helpline

Pune: Ahead of the Ganesh festival and for the safety of citizens, repair and maintenance of lighting systems in the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have been carried out recently. All the street light poles in Pimpri Chinchwad city have been inspected for the safety of the citizens by all the electrical engineers of the Municipal Corporation. Care is being taken to ensure that no pole is found in dangerous conditions. The citizens can also contact PCMC or Maharashtra State Electrical Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) officials if they find any dangerous poles, broken junction boxes, feeder pillars etc.
As per information, PCMC has instructed that while celebrating Ganesh festival from September 19 to 28, all the Ganesh mandals and the citizens, from the point of view of safety, should keep a safe distance between the street lamp pole and the lamp post of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Electricity connection should not be taken from the junction box or feeder pillar on the street lamp post of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
MSEDCL has arranged to provide a temporary electricity connection for Ganeshotsav at a very low rate and in a short period of time. However, all Shri Ganesha Mandals should take advantage of this to avoid unauthorized electricity connections and avoid loss of lives by observing electrical safety. All Ganesh Mandals should cooperate with the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
Similarly, three-phase 440-volt electricity is supplied from the poles of the buildings and lamps for the lighting system by the PCMC. However, citizens should strictly follow the following points in terms of safety:
- Citizens should not tamper with street light poles and electrical equipment in any way.
- Do not touch the pillar and feeder pillar.
- Electricity should not be taken from the street light pole without permission.
- Animals should not be tied to poles.
- Do not climb the pole by placing your foot on the junction box.
- Do not hang clothes on poles for drying clothes.
- Street lamp poles should not be taken in construction. Flexes and hoardings should not be tied to the poles.
- Do not drag any kind of cable/wire from the pole.
The possibility of loss of life or danger to life of the concerned citizens cannot be ruled out due to the above-directed acts. In case of any kind of life or financial loss due to such acts, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will not be responsible for such an unfortunate incident.
