Bollywood Icon Amitabh Bachchan Expresses ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ on Twitter Amidst India vs. Bharat Name Change

Pune: Following the issuance of invitations for a G20 dinner to be hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, there has been speculation regarding a potential change in the name of the country. Amitabh Bachchan, a prominent Bollywood figure, tweeted ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ which has been interpreted as an endorsement of the proposed name change.

As per the information provided, the ongoing special session of Parliament has witnessed a heated debate between the ruling government and the opposition regarding the proposed name change from India to Bharat. The opposition has vehemently criticized the government’s stance on this issue.

In the midst of this controversy, Bachchan’s tweet has garnered significant attention. Against the backdrop of the India vs Bharat dispute, Bachchan’s tweet, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ has gained widespread attention.

Earlier when official invitation letters were sent to the G20 presidents and ministers, the letter referred to the country as India instead of Bharat. Now, the invitation refers to the President as the President of Bharat.

Despite his brief foray into politics in the 1980s, Bachchan has largely refrained from engaging in political discourse. He won the Lok Sabha polls from Allahabad in 1984 by a significant margin but resigned in 1987 under controversial circumstances. Since then, he has made it clear that he has no intention of returning to politics.
