Divorce proceedings in Pune delayed due to ‘this’ reason
In an odd turn of events, an African gray parrot—rather than the usual arguments over children or maintenance—caused an unanticipated delay in a Pune divorce proceeding.
The case took an unusual turn when the husband and wife, who had decided to divorce by mutual consent, couldn’t agree on who would get custody of a parrot that the husband had given to her prior to their marriage.
The husband’s lawyer revealed the special facts of the case. Before they were married, the husband gave his wife an African gray parrot. The couple’s disagreements worsened over time, and eventually they filed for divorce.
After getting married in Pune on December 11, 2019, the couple found themselves incompatible by September 2021. When their two-year marriage came to an end in December 2022, the wife filed for divorce. However, during therapy sessions, the storyline became more complex.
The attorney went on to say that the decision to file for divorce was made amicably after it became clear that reconciliation was not possible. The husband made an unexpected demand, requesting the return of the African gray parrot he had given to the wife prior to marriage, even though the wife had not requested alimony.
The husband’s persistent demands for the parrot’s return caused a roadblock and momentarily interrupted the divorce proceedings. Despite her initial resistance, the wife eventually consented to give up the beloved bird following additional therapy sessions.
The attorney went on to say that the divorce was granted following the resolution of the parrot custody dispute, ending this noteworthy phase of the legal process.
