PCMC to Nigdi Metro stretch to have 4 stations ; Check details

Katraj Metro plans to get approval from Central Govt within 1 month
The planned Metro expansion from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi, which was originally supposed to have only three stations, will now have four. This demand was put forth by Mahesh Landge, MLA, Bhosari constituency.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, an official from MLA Mahesh Landge’s office said, “In the earlier plan, there were only 3 metro stations to be erected on the PCMC – Nigdi stretch. The fourth station (Nigdi, Tilak Chowk) was in the future due to some technical constraints for station erection like flyover etc. We had put the demand for 4th station a while ago. However, the metro administration has taken this into consideration now.”
The official further continued “Mostly, a tender for a 4.5 km viaduct has been released which will expire at the end of January 2024 after which the work of the PCMC-Nigdi metro stretch will begin. Also, as per the Metro rules & norms, there must be a station constructed at a distance of 1 to 1.5 km from the earlier station.”
The 4 Metro stations to be erected on the PCMC-Nigdi stretch are:
· Chinchwad Station
· Akurdi Chowk Station
· Nigdi, Tilak Chowk
· Nigdi, Bhakti Shakti Chowk
The official further added that they have also put forth the demand for erecting a multimodal hub at the Nigdi, Bhakti Shakti Chowk station, just like the one at Swargate station, where there will be several services like auto-rickshaws, PMPML buses, parking space, food courts, theaters etc for all these to be available at one place.
