Three sensitive sites in the city will host counter terrorism readiness drills overseen by the National Security Guard (NSG), according to Pune City Police, which announced the plans on Thursday.

As per information, teams from Pune City Police, Maharashtra’s elite counterterrorism unit Force One, and commandos from the NSG will participate in the exercise.

According to officials, these drills will take place during the designated window on Thursday evening through Friday midnight at three different locations: the College of Agriculture, the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesh Temple, and the Defence Research and Development Organization’s High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) (DRDO).

A senior police official said that the NSG selects a city each year to host its simulated security drills. Pune was selected for these exercises this year. The three were selected from a group of several sensitive locations in Pune. These exercises will be started at any time during the window from Thursday night to Friday midnight, keeping the element of surprise.

The official further said that these exercises will cover different counterterrorism scenarios, related security concerns, and coordinated responses by commandos of specialized forces, local police, and other entities.
