The state tax department has taken action against Brewcraft Micro-brewery Pvt Ltd located in the Corinthians Club and Resorts in Mohammadwadi, Pune, a beer manufacturing and selling company, for allegedly evading taxes amounting to Rs 57 crore 48 lakh 69 thousand 415. The case has been registered against two directors of the company, Suketu Dattatray Talekar and Prateek Raghunath Chaturvedi.

According to GST Officer Neelam Bhamre, the accused directors, Talekar and Chaturvedi, were repeatedly informed about their obligations under Section 20 of the Value Added Tax Act, 2002, which mandates filing of returns. Despite issuing a show cause notice, the directors allegedly failed to comply, leading to the case being filed against them.
The company, operating within the premises of The Corinthians Resorts and Club in Mohammadwadi, manufactures beer and sells it. It is alleged that they did not deposit the required tax amount from their sales into the government treasury.

The case has been registered at Kondhwa Police Station against the accused directors, Talekar and Chaturvedi, residing in Bandra and  Lucknow respectively. The state tax department’s swift action underscores their commitment to ensuring tax compliance and holding accountable those who attempt to evade their tax responsibilities.
