Pune: Engineering Student Abducted, Killed; Kidnappers Demand Rs 9 Lakh Ransom

A harrowing incident has shaken the city of Pune as an engineering student, Bhagyashree Suryakant Side (22), hailing from Harangul village in Latur district, Maharashtra, was found brutally murdered on March 30. Investigations have revealed that she fell victim to three youngsters, one of whom was her college mate at G H Raisoni College in Wagholi.
Bhagyashree’s evening at Phoenix Mall in Viman Nagar on March 30th took a sinister turn when she vanished without a trace around 9 pm. Concerned, her parents attempted to reach her, only to find her unreachable on her phone. Subsequently, they filed a missing person report at the Vimantal police station.
Tragically, their distress was compounded when they received extortion demands of Rs 9 lakh for their daughter’s safe return. The calls came from Bhagyashree’s phone, indicating a grim turn of events.
In response, law enforcement launched a rigorous investigation, spearheaded by Senior Inspector Anand Khobre. Their efforts led to a breakthrough with the arrest of three suspects—Shivam Fulwale, Sagar Jadhav, and Suresh Indure, all in their twenties. Among them, Shivam, a fellow student from Bhagyashree’s college, emerged as the prime suspect, with the other two being his associates.
Further probing uncovered that financial woes might have motivated the heinous crime. Allegedly facing economic hardships, the perpetrators resorted to kidnapping Bhagyashree in a car from the vicinity of Phoenix Mall on that fateful night. Tragically, their actions culminated in her untimely demise, as they mercilessly strangled her in the vehicle.
To exploit the situation further, they demanded a hefty ransom from Bhagyashree’s distraught parents, instructing them to transfer the funds into her bank account. Meanwhile, they callously disposed of her body in a secluded location in Supa Village, Ahmednagar district.
This chilling sequence of events underscores the need for swift and stringent action against perpetrators of such heinous acts. As the investigation continues, the authorities remain committed to bringing the culprits to justice and ensuring that such tragedies are prevented in the future.
