As Maharashtra prepares for the final phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, Mumbai finds itself at the heart of the electoral buzz. 

With 13 constituencies, including six significant seats in Mumbai, set to vote on Monday, the state braces for the culmination of a five-phase polling process that commenced on April 19 and concludes tomorrow, May 20. Vote counting is slated for June 4.

Ahead of the polling day, key measures are being implemented across Mumbai and other participating constituencies.

Schools, colleges, and banks will remain closed in the parliamentary constituencies participating in the electoral process on Monday.

Dry Day

Liquor shops will remain closed in crucial areas like Mumbai, Palghar, Kalyan, and Thane to ensure a conducive voting environment. Additionally, bars and wine shops in Mumbai will reopen at 5 PM on May 20, coinciding with election day. Furthermore, another dry day will be observed in Mumbai on June 4 during the vote-counting process until the results are announced.

In line with Election Commission directives, schools, colleges, and banks will remain closed in the parliamentary constituencies where voting is scheduled for Monday. These measures aim to facilitate a fair and peaceful electoral process, with strict adherence to dry days in election-bound areas and adjacent regions.

The significance of the electoral activities is underscored by the closure of major financial institutions, including the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) on May 20. This marks the second holiday in the month related to the elections, reflecting the heightened importance of this phase, particularly with all six seats in Mumbai up for voting.

Baramati, Raigad, Dharashiv, Latur, Solapur, Madha, Sangli, Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Hatkanangle.

Maharashtra, with its 48 Lok Sabha seats, holds considerable sway in national politics, trailing only behind Uttar Pradesh in parliamentary representation. Known for its political diversity and substantial electoral influence, the state plays a crucial role in shaping the national political landscape, making the upcoming polling phase in Mumbai a pivotal moment in the broader electoral narrative.
