Outrage erupts over woman's "obscene" dance performance in Delhi metro
The Delhi Metro, celebrated as the city’s lifeline over the past two decades, has recently made headlines for unusual and unruly passenger behavior. Among the bizarre incidents captured on camera are random fights, public displays of affection, and now, a woman’s provocative dance performance that has sparked outrage on social media.
Videos circulating online depict the woman twerking, belly dancing, and executing sensual dance moves in front of fellow passengers onboard the Delhi Metro. In one particularly controversial clip, she is seen kneeling on the metro floor. Identified as Instagram user @manishadancer, the woman’s videos have drawn significant attention, with her actions branded as “obscene” by many.
The clips, which have since gone viral on various social media platforms, have triggered a wave of reactions, with numerous individuals condemning her behavior as a nuisance to fellow commuters.
Criticism has been directed at the perceived inappropriateness of such actions in a public transport setting, with calls for authorities to take strict action against her.
” I think the directives of @OfficialDMRC is not working. Can we introduce a penalty of ₹ 10,000 per incident to person shown in video? This will stop this nonsense,” wrote one user.
“Is there no legal way to stop this? Commuters get so awkward with these things,” said another.
“Disgusting!! @IndianRailMedia please have police installed in each compartment to curtail such incidents. @AshwiniVaishnaw Stringent laws need to be also introduced and individuals should be fined heavily, no exceptions,” suggested a third user
Repeated requests from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) urging commuters not to film videos inside metro trains have highlighted the seriousness of the issue.
However, incidents such as this woman’s provocative dance performance underscore the challenges faced in maintaining decorum and civility within the public transport system.
