Pune, July 7, 2026: Residents of Ganeshwadi on F.C. Road have raised serious concerns over continuous sewage water overflowing near Star Villa Society, alleging that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has failed to address the issue despite repeated complaints.

Social activist Nitin D’Souza has submitted a formal complaint to PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore, urging immediate intervention to resolve what residents describe as a major public health hazard.

According to the complaint, sewage water has been flowing continuously beside Star Villa Society in Ganeshwadi, creating unhygienic conditions in the area. Residents alleged that multiple complaints have been lodged with the civic body, but no corrective action has been taken so far.

The overflowing sewage has reportedly led to a foul smell, mosquito breeding, and water pollution, raising concerns about the spread of diseases. Residents said the situation has made daily life difficult, particularly for senior citizens, children and pedestrians using the stretch.

The complaint further states that Ganeshwadi is one of Pune’s prime residential localities, home to several high-income taxpayers and surrounded by prominent educational institutions. The area also witnesses regular movement of VIPs, making the continued sewage overflow both an embarrassment and a serious civic concern.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the PMC’s response, residents accused the civic administration of ignoring repeated requests to address the problem.

In his representation, D’Souza has demanded strict action against the concerned PMC officials for their alleged inaction and called for the immediate deployment of a civic team to stop the sewage flow, clean the affected area, and undertake permanent repair work to prevent recurrence.

Residents have urged the PMC Commissioner to treat the matter as a priority, warning that continued negligence could pose significant health risks to the local community.
