Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rising day temperatures and hot weather conditions across most parts of Maharashtra over the next few days.

According to the IMD’s district-level forecast, several areas in Konkan are likely to experience hot and humid conditions, while heatwave conditions are predicted in some other districts. However, there is no heatwave forecast for Pune at this time.

An IMD official stated, “There is no heatwave forecast for Pune as of now, but day temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days based on current indications. If there is a chance of a heatwave in Pune, we will notify accordingly.”

The official attributed the surge in temperatures to the cessation of thunderstorm and rainfall activity, leading to mainly clear skies expected in a day or two across the state.

The rising temperatures have already started taking a toll, with Pune city recording high day temperatures on Tuesday. Specific areas in Pune recorded the following temperatures:

  • Shivajinagar: 40.6°C
  • Wadgaonsheri: 42.7°C
  • Koregaon Park: 42.3°C
  • Pashan: 41.8°C
  • Lohegaon: 40°C

Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours to cope with the sweltering heat.
