Pune Mayor demands relaxation in restrictions

Chief Minister of Maharashtra on August 2, 2021 announced the relaxations in restrictions in several districts of the state, keeping some cities out of the list.
Pune city has been one of them where the restrictions have not been relaxed till date.
Pune Municipal Corporation Murlidhar Mohol expressed his disappointment over the decision which left Pune city out of the list of the districts where the restrictions have been relaxed. He said, “For the past few weeks we have been demanding that the restrictions should be relaxed in the Pune city. The positivity rate also in the city is below 4 percent, the restrictions are as per the Level 3. When the government decided to relax the norms in Mumbai city, why this injustice on Pune city ? ”
Mohol further said, “Even in the weekly review meeting we had suggested that the restrictions must be relaxed. We were hoping for a change which did not take place. Today, the federation of the trade associations is holding a protest and as a citizen of the city I am supporting them. We are hoping some justice from the government.”
