Members of United Hospitality Association (UHA) held an agitation today at Goodluck Chowk, on Fergusson College road by ringing bells to bring into the limelight attention of the state government over the restrictions which are unjustified and also to raise several issues pertaining to the hotel and food industry.

Sandeep Narang, president, United Hospitality Association, said, “This agitation by conducting ghanta naad was awaken the Maharashtra government from its deep slumber. The food and hospitality industry, (hotels, restaurants, bars, permit rooms) are in the state of lock down for the past one and half years. The current time frame where we are allowed to work is upto 4 pm, this is not garnering any business to the owners.”

The members of UHA have two demands which they want the government to accept :

  1. Timing needs to be revised. The eateries can work in dual slots – 12pm to 3pm and 6 pm to 11,30pm. This is the minimum timing the industry requires just to survive and meet our requirements.

2. We need relief on many fronts – such as excise fees, MSEDCL bills, water tax and property tax. The other states such as Gujrat, Kerala and Karnataka have already given some relaxation to the industry.
