Central Railway issues warning against train stunts; search on for youth in viral video
The Central Railway (CR) issued a stern warning against performing dangerous stunts on trains following a viral video showing a youth engaging in a hazardous act on the Harbour line suburban section at Sewree.
In the video, the youth is seen catching a moving suburban local train, but instead of boarding it fully, he drags his feet along the platform as the train accelerates, only pulling himself inside at the end of the platform.
“The video of this person has gone viral and it is uncalled for. We appeal to citizens not to perform such stunts on trains as it could be fatal,” said a CR chief spokesperson. The Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have already initiated a search for the individual involved and an arrest is expected soon.
An official highlighted the dangers of such stunts. Notably, there have been similar incidents in the past where lives were lost, with families subsequently blaming the railways.
To combat this issue, the CR has been conducting sensitization camps in certain slum areas from where past ‘stuntmen’ were apprehended, urging youngsters and others not to engage in such perilous acts.
The CR’s proactive measures aim to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of all passengers.
