Pune: Demolition Drive Targets Unauthorized Hotels and Shops In Wanowrie
Wanowrie, Pune: In a strict action against unauthorized constructions, the Building Development Department of the municipal authority undertook a demolition drive in Wanowrie. Using bulldozers, they dismantled illegal structures, including hotels and shops, covering a total area of 7,500 square feet.
Unauthorized establishments like The Dock Hotel, Puneri Katta, Alwan Caterers, Star Chicken, and Lobo’s Automobile, located on private land near Jagtap Chowk leading to the State Reserve Police Force road, were targeted in the operation.
The land in question is private and currently under litigation. The concerned hotel and shop owners were served a 30-day notice based on the received complaints. The demolition continued for an hour and a half before a court stay order halted the action, during which approximately 7,500 square feet of illegal structures were demolished. Deputy Engineer Vijay Dabhade stated that the operation would resume once the stay order is lifted.
The demolition drive was conducted under the guidance of Executive Engineer Kanhaiyalal, with Deputy Engineer Vijay Dabhade, Junior Engineer Sopan Rupnar, Draftsman Sudhir Satbhai, Tulip Engineer Abhishek Biramne, Om Sasane, and officials and staff from the Wanawadi Ramtekdi regional office’s Ghorpadi department.
