Aadhaar And APAAR ID Made Mandatory For CET 2026 Applications
Pune, December 25, 2025: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced that Aadhaar and APAAR ID will be mandatory for all CET examinations from 2026 onwards, including the MHT-CET. The move aims to streamline the application process and ensure accurate verification of candidates’ academic and personal records.
The online application process for CET 2026 is expected to begin shortly on the official website, cetcell.mahacet.org. CET Commissioner Dilip Sardesai urged students to complete all document updates well in advance to avoid last-minute difficulties during registration.
As per the new guidelines, all candidates must possess a valid Aadhaar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Personal details such as name, date of birth, photograph, address, father’s name and mobile number must be correctly updated and should match the information mentioned on the candidate’s Class 10 certificate. The mobile number linked to the Aadhaar card must also remain active throughout the application process.
In addition to Aadhaar, candidates are required to generate and submit their APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry), a unique 12-digit academic identification number designed to digitally maintain students’ academic records. The CET Cell has clarified that submission of the APAAR ID is compulsory for all applicants appearing for CET 2026.
Candidates applying under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category must submit a valid disability certificate issued by the competent authority. Alternatively, a Unique Disability ID (UDID) card, if available, will also be accepted. The CET Cell has advised PwD candidates to obtain a UDID card at the earliest.
Further, PwD candidates who are eligible for a scribe must provide details of two scribes while filling out the online application form.
With the introduction of mandatory Aadhaar and APAAR ID requirements, the CET Cell aims to enhance transparency, improve record management and ensure a smoother admission process for students across Maharashtra.
