Pune: PMC Clears Property Tax NOCs For 1,234 Aspirants Ahead Of Civic Polls
Pune, December 25, 2025: With the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) general elections scheduled for January 15, 2026, the civic administration has begun clearing mandatory documentation for aspiring candidates. Over the past six days, the PMC has issued property tax no-objection certificates (NOCs) to 1,234 aspirants out of a total 2,770 applications received so far, officials said.
Property tax clearance is a compulsory requirement before candidates can file their nomination papers for the civic polls. The steady issuance of NOCs indicates progress in processing applications as the election timeline draws closer.
Civic body has received more than 2,000 applications from individuals intending to contest the elections. The entire NOC process has been digitised to ensure transparency and efficiency.
The property tax NOC system is completely online. Each application undergoes verification across 22 municipal departments to confirm there are no pending property tax dues. Certificates are being cleared and issued on a daily basis.
Officials noted that many aspirants have utilised the PMC’s ongoing property tax amnesty scheme to settle outstanding dues before applying for the NOC. According to Pawar, the scheme has helped accelerate the clearance process while also boosting civic revenue.
Several candidates cleared their pending property taxes by taking advantage of the amnesty scheme. So far, the PMC has collected over ₹235 crore through this initiative. Overall, property tax collection has crossed ₹2,000 crore to date.
With nomination deadlines approaching, civic officials expect a surge in applications in the coming days. The PMC has urged aspiring candidates to complete property tax settlements and submit applications well in advance to avoid last-minute delays.
