Mumbai, December 25, 2025: With Navi Mumbai International Airport set to begin phased operations, authorities have issued a detailed road access guide to help passengers travelling from Pune and Lonavala reach Terminal 1 without confusion. The step-by-step directions focus on key highways and junctions to ensure a smooth drive, especially for first-time users of the new airport.

For motorists coming from Pune or Lonavala, the primary approach is via the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, one of the busiest arterial corridors connecting Pune, Lonavala and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Route via Mumbai–Pune Expressway and JNPA Road

Drivers are advised to continue on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway and take the left downward exit towards JNPA at the Panvel Kone interchange. From there, vehicles should enter the national highway leading to the JNPA road and proceed towards Palaspe junction.

After crossing Palaspe, motorists should continue straight until reaching the Gavhan Fata interchange. At this junction, a right-turning loop will take vehicles onto Amra Marg, the main arterial road providing direct access to the airport zone.

Final Approach to Terminal 1

Once on Amra Marg, travellers should stay in the left lanes. A dedicated ramp on the left leads directly to the western main entrance of Navi Mumbai International Airport. This access road connects straight to Terminal 1, allowing vehicles to enter the terminal area without navigating local roads or diversions.

The route has been designed to handle heavy traffic volumes and facilitate smooth movement of private vehicles, taxis and airport buses.

Alternative Route via Sion–Panvel Highway

Passengers approaching from the Sion–Panvel Highway towards Vashi can use an alternative route. After crossing the CIDCO Bhavan area, drivers should keep to the left lanes and take the left downward exit before Uran Fata to reach Amra Marg.

From there, motorists must continue straight via the NMMC junction flyover, remain in the left lanes, and follow signage towards the airport’s western main entrance. The left-side ramp again provides direct access to Terminal 1.

Authorities have advised travellers to follow road signage carefully and plan for additional travel time during peak hours as traffic patterns stabilise with the commencement of airport operations.
