Accident in Pune : 12 tourists injured as jeep overturned in Sinhagad Ghat

There was a huge crowd of tourists at Sinhagad Fort on Sunday (17th December). 12 tourists were injured in an accident in which a jeep, carrying passengers, overturned in the Sinhagad Ghat.

As per further information shared by Baliram Waikar, Forest Guard, Sinhagad Fort, in the morning, a jeep overturned in the Sinhagad Ghat.12 tourists have been injured, however, no loss of life has happened.

The Range Forest Officer Saadhan Patil, forest guard Baliram Waikar, Sandeep Koli and other security official immediately rushed to the spot. With the help of tourists, the injured tourists were immediately admitted to a hospital.

While tourists were coming down from the fort, their jeep overturned. 

Due to this accident, the issue of traffic planning and regulation on Sinhagad Ghat road has come to the fore.

The Forest Department has clarified that despite repeated requests to the transport and police departments to inspect the vehicles carrying passengers on the fort and take action, no cognizance has been taken.

A total of 2121 vehicles were reported to have arrived at the fort during the day. At 12 pm, the parking lot at the ghat was full, so there was a long queue of vehicles from the parking lot directly to the ghat road.
